Customer photo review of 0.140X44.20 | TorqueMaster Plus Spring | TMP/TM3

Metro Garage quoted me $1100 to fix a suspected broken spring -- both cables had slack and the motor could not completely lift the door. This garage door (9' width x 7' height, 72 lbs) was installed in Dec 2007. I figured that can buy a spring and try to swap it out for $70 which included $18 for 2-day shipping. I have never tinkered with a garage door, but I'm not scared to try. Instructions that are provided with the spring are helpful, but a bit general because they cover so many different model changes over the years. I also asked ChatGPT questions and it provide accurate information. Only worry I had is if I was applying tension in the correct direction turning counter-clockwise... which I was correct. I rate the task about a 6/10 for difficulty; similar to changing oil for the first time on a vehicle. Good news is that in 2 hours I had the garage door fixed and saved myself $1,030. Reading and interpreting the directions is the most challenging part -- I definitely recommending using ChatGPT as well.
