Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster Plus Replacement Spring | TMP/TM3
When replacing TorqueMaster Springs it is necessary to identify if the door utilizes the original TorqueMaster One, or the newer TorqueMaster Plus spring system.
The easiest way to distinguish these is by visually inspecting the end brackets. ToqueMaster One has a counter and winding fitting to the end, while TorqueMaster Plus has the anti-drop pawl and rachet gear inside the end bracket. You can also determine each type of spring system by looking at the winding shaft on the end of the springs.
The counterbalance weight (e.g. Wt. or Wgt.) on the sticker is the most important when determining the correct spring needed.
The spring's job is to store the mechanical energy from the weight of the door. When this is done correctly the Opener | Operator has to do minimal work. It is best practice to choose springs within 10 pounds of the garage door weight as outside that will cause the motor to work harder than needed to open/close the garage door.
These labels/stickers are located on the shaft that the springs are inside. Labels are often Yellow, Blue, or White and may have a slightly different layout than what is seen below.

Our garage door broke unexpectedly. Our house is only 4.5 years old and we never thought the garage door spring would go. Most of our local repair places wouldn't repair Tourque Master systems. I was able to take the spring down on my own and figure out how to repair it. I am a moderate DIYer. It's a reasonable project and probably saved me at least $500 to do it myself. The instructions were even in the shipping box so I didn't need to look them up. Great job!
Very detailed ordering and installation instructions! Replaced spring and had door operational in under an hour…. Hardest part was waiting on order to deliver!
Tyler's help was was above and beyond and he obviously know the products.
I still didn't care for the restocking charge for the return of the original order, especially when I purchased a retrofit kit to replace obsoleted parts that were the real issue.
Tyler validated the spring recommendations based on the limited information I had on the original Wayne Dalton door and Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster Plus Replacement Spring | TMP/TM3 springs. The Door-Parts website informative is very good. Check out the door spring replacement video. Price and delivery was great.
Ordered replacement torque master springs. They shipped the next day and came exactly as advertised! The included instructions were very clear and made the replacement very easy.
The website was extremely informative when choosing the right springs for my garage door. I was able to get the correct spring package, the order arrived on time and the springs work perfectly. I even received an email and call double checking to make sure these were the correct springs. I will definitely be ordering from this company any time I need parts for my garage door.
I was VERY happy to find your site after struggling to unsuccessfully find a supplier near us. I was pleased to find that we could get out new springs very quickly, too. That was the icing on the cake.
Tyler was great and helped me by phone to get the right items the first time. They arrived quickly and had the best price hands down. I will definitely shop here again.
The one issue I had was getting the old springs out. After getting the sleeve out, I had to get a 10’ rebar to pound out the one spring that refused to come loose.
But otherwise the instructions were great.
The customer service is second to none. I ordered the wrong part on my first order and realized it almost immediately. I was able to contact them and get that order canceled and got the right part on order. Tyler was fantastic in his customer service. He was very helpful and made sure I had the right parts coming the first time. The instructions in the box with the springs was also a fantastic part of the customer service. Thank you, Tyler for the great service. You rock!
Worked for just what I needed them for. Got everything replaced and working better than new. The site was the best part that helped me find the right replacements I needed for an older generation setup. Not hopefully these last another 20yrs.
I am quite pleased with the level of service I received from Door Parts. The website was easy to navigate and ordering process was easy. Answers to my email inquiries were prompt and the order processing and delivery was fast. However, I do think the pricing could be 20% cheaper.
Regards,
Mark Lohr
We were so impressed with customer service. We received a call to check on our measurements and we appreciated that service. The part arrived in perfect condition and it was put to work right away. Thank you for being there.
This has been my first experience with Door-Parts, and it has been exceptional in all regards. First off, I was looking for the best price for the product I needed and I found it here. Secondly, I wanted free shipping and the product I ordered was shipped to me free and rapidly. Lastly, unfortunately the product I ordered didn't work out for my particular situation, and I needed to return it. The return process was simple and quick, but there was a restocking fee and I had to pay for return shipping. The website is super easy to navigate and ordering and return was simple.
Arrived quickly. I had watched videos beforehand on how to install the new springs. The instructions were a great reminder and great way to double check though
Replaced many old style springs and a few torsion springs, did not know how the torquemaster system worked until I found the video. Basic mechanics. On one side the spring would not come out, no amount of lube, tension, banging etc worked, heat was applied which melted the sleeve to the tube. Banged the spring out through the other end, had to reuse the old sleeve. Lesson learned.
They had the right parts to do the Job correctly the first time. The customer service also verified I have a heavy wind rated garage door, before shipping my parts because they want to get it right the first time. The door works great now and best of all its never worked so smooth and quiet.
This wasnt my first experience with getting my garage door fix from broken springs. I bought my home new and unfortunately the builder installed weaker springs than my wind rated door should of had and the local repair guy I hired just replaced my broken springs with the same part numbers when my garage door failed the first time; now ten years later its better than new.
